If you don't want to see a middle aged has been trying to discover herself through the medium of digital photography in an orgy of narcissism then please by all means blog hop away and I won't be offended.
For the record I am quite enjoying YAYOM and, although I am still unconvinced that I am remotely photogenic, I quite like the following which are only some of my submissions to the Flickr group.

You seem like you are really enjoying YAYOM , despite not feeling comfortable in front of the camera, and I really like the shots - especially 'Wrinkled feet' which is strangely moving, I'm not sure why I find it so, and 'Move' in which you look so vital and childlike, which belies your age completely. It's a shame that we are judged by the superficial, outward appearance of our bodies and not their marvellous ability to move and function and live... I also love your expression in 'Me (warts and all)' as you look happy and at ease, whereas normally you look unhappy to be facing the camera!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to that feeling, as I am nearing 40, and really starting to notice things changing, and I take 100 pics before I find a half decent one I can bear!
Thank you Claire!
ReplyDeleteI was appalled at the thought that the bottom of my feet looked akin to Elephant hide...but I suppose all those wrinkles allow for ease of movement...or that is what I keep telling myself. And the "Warty" one is probably thanks to excessive consumption of alcohol.
I must admit I have enjoyed leaping and cavorting about the garden quite a bit these past few days!
Thank you for inviting us to your orgy. I for one am very much enjoying it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou might have already given this info, but what kind of camera do you have, and how do you take the shots? Does the camera just click away repeatedly while you dance around the garden?
Thank you Katrina!
ReplyDeleteI just have a very basic idiot proof Nikon camara with a 10 second timer. This means I have to do a lot of setting up,taking glasses on and off, running around in front of the camera and trying to remember where I want to be etc.etc.I have learned that "next time" I will buy one that has the option for a remote!
A wonderful set of images - thank you for allowing us to share your "decisive moments". I'm struck by your beautiful and striking use of light and shadow.
ReplyDeleteWhich Nikon are you using?
Thank you!
DeleteThe camer is a Nikon Coolpix P300...not an SLR just basic.
Interesting to see what you're creating with it! I'm considering a micro-system camera which seem to be a good mid way point between my point and shoot cannon ixus and a DSLR. I was wondering if that was what you were using.
DeleteI am enjoying seeing your yayom pics and how you are exploring creative images with the camera. I like path and walking especially.
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie...it's all a bit silly really!
Deletewhat's YAYOM? i loved your images!! so graceful and full of light!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteYAYOM is short for You Are Your Own Muse which is an e-course in self portraiture run by Vivienne McMaster (http://www.viviennemcmasterphotography.com)and it has been quite interesting and fun to do.
